Craftsmanship
Our production philosophy pays homage to the natural world that gives us our materials and our inspiration.
We like to think that the pieces we create pay tribute to the majestic trees that yield their timber to our cause. With this in mind we build pieces with a view to longevity.
Simplicity
For a piece to last generations, planning is crucial, so each design is painstakingly picked apart before going into production. In the planning phase, the construction methodology is devised to favour simplicity and minimise material waste. Wherever possible we stick to time honored joinery techniques and minimise the dependency on hardware.
Materials
In selecting materials for construction, we focus not only on aesthetic and strength properties but also the provenance of the inputs. We have an uncompromising policy of using FSA certified timber and a strong preference for local suppliers wherever possible. We also prefer finishes that compliment rather than mask the natural properties of our materials and are either fully natural or water-based products.
Quality
When it comes to actually building a piece our craftsman focus on precision and integrity. This means that any piece should perfectly mirror the design in aesthetic and dimensions. It also means that what you see is what you get without facades or hidden defects .
We strive for a product where the unseen facets are just as beautifully and finely crafted as the visible surfaces.
Design
As a design driven company everything we create is informed by 7 tenets of design which are present in every step of the design and craft process.
